About us

Background

4Wheels4Sean was established in 2001 to assist Sean Fitzgerald, a keen cyclist, who became a quadriplegic in a mountain bike accident in June 2000 to purchase a specially equipped vehicle worth $50,000 to provide him with increased mobility and quality of life. Sean was presented with his vehicle in 2003 and the fund continued to provide for Australian cyclists in a small way for some years after.

In 2007, Australia's peak cycling organisations including Cycling Australia (CA), Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) and BMX Australia (BMXA) combined to re launch 4Wheels4Sean as a national charity dedicated to assisting severely injured cyclists
